The role of the multicultural worker is to:
- Provide information, referral and short term counseling to individuals and migrant families; particularly people from non-English speaking backgrounds.
- Assist migrants to improve their access to government and community services.
- Provide a central focus point and to act as a drop in centre for migrants, particularly those who have recently arrived.
- To consult with government and community organisations about the needs and issues of migrants.
